Definition: Worldliness
You can check out J. D. Greear's blog; you may have to search for the article but it is titled "Worldliness." It is a book review of C. J. Mahaney's latest project called (guess) Worldliness. Looks good; still working on Future Grace though... to busy to read!!! Gotta make the time though, right?
Here is a snip from J. D.'s blog:
Rather, worldliness is (per 1 John 2:15-16):
* "the lust of the flesh": worshipping the things of the world (feeling like we need money, prosperity, sex, marriage, etc to be happy) and allowing sinful desires to rule our hearts;
* "the lust of the eyes": craving money and success and applause more than we desire to know God (daydreaming about one day when we're rich, popular, admired, etc);
* "the pride of life": taking pride in our accomplishments and talents; feeling like who we are or what we've done sets us apart from others.

Uh Oh!
There was an article that came out over the weekend that mentioned any photos posted online are most likely never to be deleted... even if you deleted them.... or something like that...
The moral of the story is this: BECAREFUL what you put online!
I found out if you post anything about The Doctrines of Grace or (Ahhhhhh!!!!) Calvinism, your Facebook inbox will be bombarded with questions and others will begin to post remarks on their "walls" (facebook jargon) about the issue...
Someone asked me, "Did you post that to try to make others upset or did you do it because you ACTUALLY believe it?"
(Insert evil snicker here.) Answer: "Si."
Oh me... I've done done it now!!!

Dr. Dan Sweatt: The Follow Up
To those who know me and my "treks" through mulitple (LOL) independent, fundamental Baptist colleges and churches I hope that quote sheds some light on my own personal frustrations with the church.
I recently asked the opinion of a very well known preacher (who has been a mentor of mine) a question concerning a certain doctrinal enigma that has me a bit perplexed. His answer was short, to the point and peppered with a little bit of ridicule... He hasn't spoken to me since.
So, should I stay? Or should I continue (LOL) to be a compromiser and "bolt"?
Check out Chris...

Dr. Dan Sweatt
He attempts to give his definition of a Fundamentalist and explain why so many young men (hey! like me!) have left the ideology of the 20th Century Independent, Fundamental Baptist Movement.
He mocks some good, godly men, denounces God's Sovereignty concerning salvation and calls into question the ministry of Charles Spurgeon.
Listen to it here... (If you want, LOL)
Read the rebuttal from Kevin T. Bauder here... Thank God for this guy!

Aaron's Library

Totally stoked about this one...
This book was a Christmas gift that I have now gotten around to read! Pastor Mike and I were talking about John Piper a few months back and we both agreed this man can say more in two sentences than most people can say in a whole hour! LOL
Seriously though, I'm looking forward to it.
God has been so good to me, though I am so unworthy of His love. Why me? I was thinking earlier this morning just how corrupt I truly am; how sickening my pride must be before an Almight Sovereign!
With all my sin and wickedness what do I have to be proud of? How thankful I am for the grace of God in my life... It's not what I do or what I don't do that earns me favor with God; it's because of His Grace alone!
Anyways, there's my lil' rant and praise!
Thank God today for His Grace!
Monnie from Magic 98.9 & Me!
Some lady in our office won us coffee and donuts today... Such a bad picture of me, LOL, but this lady was really cool and kind of a "local celebrity" so I couldn't pass up the chance. I'm such a loser... LOLAnyways, she is suppose to blog about us on her blog.

How Satan Has Hijacked the IFB Church
More dogma and less doctrine.
Some to liberal while some are to legalistic.
Why all the problems?
The reason our fellowships have disintegrated and our church memberships have been on a downward spiral is due impart to a few things:
KJV Only
Traditions over Culture
The IFB movement holds it traditions (landmarks) more reverently than they do the reaching and teaching of the changing culture around them. There is little adaptation to the culture around us; women still should wear dresses everywhere, men should not wear shorts nor should they grow any facial hair and if your skin color is anything but white you need to find another church…while this may not be stated from the pulpit it is often the attitude. One can’t change the culture back to what it use to be; they can only be better prepared to reach it!
Theology
The deep, rich, robust theology passed down from preachers of old was watered downed and tainted by the “numbers crazed” and theologically impotent evangelical. Sword of the Lord Publications, Jack Hyles and others fueled this “just repeat after me” salvation scam with their God-degrading theology. Today men and women treat God like a magic umbrella; He is only allowed out when it is inconvenient to the sinner. The truth of the Sovereignty of God has been tossed aside and in some circles deemed a heretical stance.
One, Two, Three… The list goes on. These are in no specific order of importance but all speak to the fact that Satan is having his way with the “normal” Independent, Baptist Church. He causes us to lose focus of God’s Word, Reaching the Lost and True Salvation.

Easy Answer; Bad Advice
A child rushes up to his mother and says, "Mom, I want to be President one day!" The mother sweetly replies to her young one, "Honey you can be whatever you want to be, if you just put your mind to it!" The snaggle toothed kid grins widely and goes off to play in his mud hole once again, dreaming of the day he will be sitting behind his desk in the oval office...
The problem is that you CAN'T be whatever you put your mind to be. Instead of being realistic with our young people and children we pump up their self-esteem (aka PRIDE) and declare they can do whatever they want as long as they put their mind to it or try hard enough. The truth of the matter is that one day after they try hard enough and have put their mind to it they begin to fail. The boy who dreamed of being an astronaut learns that less than 1% of those who apply to become a space explorer actually get to go into orbit. The girl who thought she would be running the multi-million dollar corporation is removing staples from her bosses' annual audits.
Instead maybe we should tell them, "Try hard and give your best but remember to follow and love God with all your heart; Let God open the opportunities in life." Our efforts shouldn't be to build up the false pretense of "self-esteem" in our children but to build up Christ and show Him to be the ultimate goal in life, not some occupation or position of power.
To do anything less than that is not good and to him that knows to do good, and doesn't do it, to him it is sin.
